Minister of Education Eng. Jalal Al-Tabatabai stated on Saturday that the 35th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990 represents a national milestone where we recall one of the most severe crises to befall our nation - one that simultaneously demonstrated the Kuwaiti people's unity and solidarity behind their leadership in defense of their land and dignity, until sovereignty was restored and justice prevailed.
In a statement released by the Ministry, Al-Tabatabai added that wars leave profound impacts affecting all aspects of life, with Iraq's brutal invasion of Kuwait serving as a clear example. Its repercussions directly impacted the educational process: schools closed, the educational journey was disrupted, and students and teachers were deprived of their fundamental right to education.
Al-Tabatabai explained that this bitter experience taught us that the loss of one's homeland is irreplaceable, and the absence of education remains among the harshest consequences of crises. He emphasized that both homeland and education together form the foundation of human dignity and the cornerstone for building a stable and prosperous future, affirming that security and stability are the basis for sustainable education and an advancing society.
On this occasion, Al-Tabatabai confirmed that the Ministry of Education believes its role extends beyond delivering curricula to encompass a comprehensive national project focused on shaping generational awareness and instilling values of loyalty and belonging. He stressed that reinforcing national identity and pride represents a constant pillar in the educational system, safeguarding Kuwait's security and stability.
He noted that under its wise leadership, Kuwait prioritizes education above all, as the Ministry continues its efforts to provide a safe and stimulating educational environment that enhances learning opportunities and elevates the educational process at all levels - recognizing the importance of this right and the responsibility to preserve and develop it.
Al-Tabatabai concluded by praying to Almighty God to bestow His infinite mercy upon Kuwait's righteous martyrs, to protect Kuwait from all harm, and to keep the banners of knowledge and learning raised high across Kuwait under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah - may God protect and preserve him, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah - may God protect him, and the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah - may God protect him.
