Chelsea settled the London derby against their hosts, West Ham United, in their favor with a score of five goals to one. The match, which opened the second round of the English Premier League, was held on Friday at the London Stadium.
The home team managed to score an early opener, specifically in the 6th minute, from Brazilian winger Lucas Paquetá. However, the Spanish player Pedro equalized for the visitors just eight minutes later.
After the equalizing goal, Chelsea seized control of the match and became more dangerous in front of goal. The second goal came in the 23rd minute through Portuguese winger Pedro Neto, followed by the third goal in the 34th minute, scored by the Argentine Enzo Fernández.
Nine minutes after the start of the second half, Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo scored the fourth goal before his English teammate, Trevoh Chalobah, added the fifth goal in the 58th minute.
With this win, Chelsea temporarily tops the league table with four points, pending the rest of the second-round matches to be played on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
