Meta has announced the start of rolling out private teen accounts on Facebook and Messenger across the globe, after they were previously available in limited markets such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
The company's official website explained that these accounts, which were first launched on Instagram last year, have become mandatory for all teenage users, noting that hundreds of millions of them already rely on them through its three apps, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.
The new accounts contain advanced parental control tools, requiring younger teens (ages 13 to 15) to get their parents' consent before changing safety-related settings.
