After a long series of leaks, Apple is preparing to announce the fourth-generation iPhone SE later this week. The new phone will get some new features for the SE series, such as an OLED screen and Face ID, along with Apple's first 5G modem, which was manufactured by TSMC.

This modem is a major step towards Apple's independence from other chip makers such as Intel and Qualcomm, which previously relied on it to produce its cellular modems. However, according to a new report from South Korea, Apple's first modem won't be able to compete with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon X75.
