The embassies of the State of Kuwait in Tunisia, Romania, and Hungary, along with its consulate in Guangzhou, China, celebrated the 64th National Day and the 34th Liberation Day. The celebrations were attended by a number of ambassadors, senior officials, and prominent figures.
### **Tunisia:**
In Tunisia, the Kuwaiti Embassy held a celebration for these two occasions, attended by Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Nafti, Minister of Industry and Energy Fatima Thabet, Presidential Advisor Walid Hajjam, President of the Regions Council Imad Darbali, and several Arab and foreign ambassadors, officials, and public figures.
On this occasion, Kuwait's Ambassador to Tunisia, Mansour Al-Omar, extended his highest congratulations to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti government and people. He emphasized the "distinguished and deeply rooted" bilateral relations between Kuwait and Tunisia, built on mutual respect and spanning economic, trade, investment, and developmental cooperation.
Ambassador Al-Omar highlighted the outcomes of the fourth joint committee held in Tunisia last November, which resulted in the signing of 14 agreements. He stressed the importance of following up on the committee's recommendations to serve the shared goals of both countries. He also noted the ongoing work of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in Tunisia since 1963, funding numerous developmental projects worth over $1 billion.
Additionally, he mentioned the presence of Kuwaiti private sector investments in Tunisia for decades, reflecting the depth of investment partnerships between the two nations. Ambassador Al-Omar also praised the alignment of both countries' positions on regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and their rejection of attacks on Lebanon and Syria.
Tunisian Foreign Minister Nafti conveyed President Kais Saied's congratulations to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti government and people, wishing Kuwait continued progress and prosperity. He commended Kuwait's selection as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025, reflecting its rich cultural and media heritage.
### **Romania:**
In Bucharest, the Kuwaiti Embassy hosted a reception to mark the national holidays, attended by Romanian government officials, including State Secretary for International Affairs and Diplomatic Strategies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Traian Hristea, along with several ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Romania, Abdullah Al-Shuaibi, extended his congratulations to His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Kuwaiti government and people. He highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Romania and their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields.
### **Hungary:**
In Budapest, the Kuwaiti Embassy organized a reception to celebrate the national holidays, attended by prominent political, economic, and academic figures, as well as Hungarian government officials, including Deputy Minister of Defense and State Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs at the Ministry of Defense, Tamás Vargha.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Hungary, Tariq Al-Faraj, congratulated the Kuwaiti leadership and people on this occasion, expressing his wishes for continued stability and prosperity for Kuwait. He emphasized the deep bilateral relations between Kuwait and Hungary, which span over 61 years, and noted the significant progress in these relations across various fields.
Ambassador Al-Faraj also highlighted Hungary's honorable stance during and after Kuwait's liberation, particularly its active participation in extinguishing oil well fires. He announced the completion of final recommendations for signing an investment protection agreement and amending the double taxation avoidance agreement. He also revealed plans to launch political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Additionally, he announced the preparation for the sixth round of the Kuwaiti-Hungarian Joint Committee, which will include an expanded meeting of businessmen and investors from both sides, scheduled to take place in Kuwait later this year. He also mentioned the launch of a direct flight between Kuwait and Budapest by Jazeera Airways, starting in the summer season with two weekly flights, to enhance tourism and cultural exchange.
### **China (Guangzhou):**
In Guangzhou, the Consulate General of Kuwait hosted a reception to celebrate the national holidays, attended by senior officials from Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, including Huang Ningsheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, and Chen Xiongqiao, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress. The event was also attended by representatives from Arab, Islamic, and foreign diplomatic missions in Guangzhou.
Kuwait's Consul General in Guangzhou, Abdullah Al-Turki, extended his congratulations to His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Kuwaiti government and people. He recalled the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and China in March 1971, making Kuwait the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with China.
Consul General Al-Turki highlighted that China is Kuwait's largest trading partner for nine consecutive years and noted the presence of three Kuwaiti consulates in China (Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shanghai), in addition to the embassy in Beijing, reflecting the importance of Kuwaiti-Chinese relations. He also mentioned Kuwait's early support for China's Belt and Road Initiative and the ongoing efforts to align it with Kuwait Vision 2035.
He emphasized the significant agreements reached during His Highness the Amir's visit to China in September 2023, including the signing of seven memoranda of understanding. He also noted the recent signing of a contract for the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works and a Chinese state-owned company.
Consul General Al-Turki praised the vital role of Chinese companies in enriching economic cooperation between the two countries through their participation in key projects under Kuwait Vision 2035, such as the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, the Shagaya Renewable Energy Complex, and parts of the new Kuwait International Airport.
He also highlighted the cultural cooperation between the two countries, including the establishment of the first Chinese cultural center in the Gulf region in Kuwait and the signing of an agreement for a smart classroom to teach the Chinese language at Kuwait University.
Huang Ningsheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, expressed his congratulations to the Kuwaiti leadership and people, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship between Kuwait and China. He noted the strategic alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Kuwait Vision 2035 and the ongoing cooperation in renewable energy, investment, and digital economy.
Huang also highlighted the growing trade and friendly exchanges between Kuwait and Guangdong Province, expressing confidence that cooperation between the two sides would reach higher levels through the active efforts of the Consulate General and Consul General Abdullah Al-Turki. He welcomed Kuwait and other global partners to share in the high-quality development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao).
