Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the "rare" metals deal with the United States is ready to be signed, affirming that his country is committed to its obligations. In a statement to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) following his participation in the "Protecting Our Security" summit, which included several European leaders as well as Canada and Turkey, he added that "the relationship between Ukraine and the United States will continue."
The Ukrainian president also noted that "if constructive negotiations are held in the future, they will yield positive results." Regarding the outcomes of the European summit in London, he said that Ukraine believes "the best security guarantee lies in a strong Ukrainian army," expressing hope that security assurances will help halt Russian aggression.
He mentioned that he raised the issue of using Russian assets to fund the reconstruction of Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine will never recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories by the Russian military as part of Russia.
