The Ministry of Health emphasized that adhering to preventive guidelines during rainy weather is essential to enhance public health and ensure the safety of everyone..

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, emphasized the importance of following preventive guidelines during rainy weather. He noted that, despite the beauty of climate changes, they may pose certain health challenges that require caution and vigilance, especially for groups more vulnerable to such conditions, such as respiratory patients, the elderly, and children.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday, Al-Sanad stated that driving during rainfall requires a higher level of attention and road responsibility. Rainwater affects tire traction on the road, increasing the likelihood of skidding. Therefore, reducing speed and maintaining a safe distance between vehicles are essential preventive measures to avoid accidents and ensure the safety of road users.

He stressed the need to avoid direct exposure to cold and humid air, particularly for asthma and allergy patients, as these conditions may exacerbate respiratory symptoms due to exposure to airborne allergens. He added that scientific studies have shown that high humidity levels can increase the likelihood of bronchospasm in asthma patients, making it crucial to carry asthma inhalers and adhere to the treatment plans recommended by doctors. He also advised keeping windows closed at home and in vehicles to minimize exposure to airborne irritants that rain may carry.

Al-Sanad warned of the need for caution when handling electrical appliances, as water can cause electrical short circuits, leading to serious risks. He emphasized avoiding contact with electrical wires and sockets with wet hands and ensuring that water does not leak into electrical devices. These are fundamental preventive measures that help reduce home accidents during rainy weather.

He mentioned that monitoring weather bulletins issued by official authorities and adhering to the instructions of relevant entities, whether related to traffic movement or taking preventive measures at home, are all crucial to ensuring maximum safety.

Al-Sanad stressed that immediate communication with health authorities and seeking medical assistance when needed is a responsible action that should not be hesitated, especially when experiencing unusual health symptoms.

He explained that the Ministry of Health continues to raise awareness about preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone. He called on community members to enjoy the winter weather while adhering to precautionary measures that enhance public health and reduce potential risks.
