Al-Ittihad secured a last-minute victory over Al-Riyadh with a score of 2-1 in a match held between them on Thursday as part of the 25th round of the Saudi Professional Football League.
The match, which took place at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, saw Al-Ittihad open the scoring in the 55th minute through French player Moussa Diaby. Al-Riyadh managed to equalize in the 81st minute thanks to their Iraqi player Ibrahim Bayesh. However, Al-Ittihad clinched the winning goal in the final minutes of the match with a successfully executed penalty by Saleh Al-Shehri in the 11th minute of second-half stoppage time.
With this result, Al-Ittihad continues to lead the league standings with 61 points, maintaining a seven-point gap over their closest rival, Al-Hilal, who have 54 points. Al-Hilal is set to play their match in this round against Al-Taawoun this coming Saturday.
In other matches of the same round, Al-Fateh defeated Al-Raed with a score of 3-1, while Al-Shabab overwhelmed Al-Orobah with a clean 6-0 victory.
