Saudi Arabia welcomed on Sunday the formation of Syria's new government, expressing hope that this government would fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry affirmed the Kingdom's desire to cooperate and work with Syria's new government 'in a manner that embodies the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries and enhances bilateral ties across all fields.'
The statement conveyed Saudi Arabia's wishes for the new Syrian government's success in achieving Syria's security, stability, and prosperity.
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar'aa had announced the new government formation on Saturday evening, following four months of caretaker administration. During the inauguration ceremony at Damascus' People's Palace, Al-Shar'aa stated the new government's top priority would be combating corruption, adding it would work to rebuild state institutions based on accountability and transparency
