Oman has agreed with Britain and France to work together to ensure the safety of navigation in Omani territorial waters, the British government announced on Saturday. This comes as oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have accelerated since the United States and Iran signed an agreement last month to reopen the vital waterway. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a joint statement with French President Emmanuel Macron: "Britain and France also stand ready to deploy the multinational military task force to support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."The statement added: "The Strait of Hormuz is a vital artery for the global economy, and restoring safe passage for ships of all countries through the strait is an issue of concern to the entire world."
