The Ministry of Health emphasizes the vital role of emergency medical personnel in saving lives..

The Ministry of Health emphasized the critical role of emergency medical personnel in saving lives and their continuous efforts around the clock to handle emergency reports, transport patients, and ensure safety at various events across the country.

This was highlighted in a speech delivered by Dr. Abdullah Al-Faras, the Assistant Undersecretary for Supporting Medical Services at the Ministry of Health, during the celebration of the third Kuwait Ambulance Day on Saturday. Dr. Al-Faras underscored the importance of the efforts of emergency medical personnel and their significant role in improving healthcare services and ensuring a swift and effective response to emergencies.

Dr. Al-Faras also praised the performance of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel during the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup (Zain Gulf Cup 26), hosted by Kuwait, and their notable presence during major incidents, including fires, affirming that they are the "safety valve of society."

He stressed the ongoing support and development to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and excellence in the healthcare sector.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Director of the Emergency Medical Services Department, stated in his speech during the celebration that Kuwait Ambulance Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of ambulance services and the vital role they play in saving lives, as well as educating the public on how to handle accidents and emergency injuries, including first aid.

Dr. Al-Shatti added that the celebration also seeks to encourage individuals and communities to participate in volunteer work in the field of ambulance and medical services, renewing the pledge to give more for Kuwait on the occasion of national holidays.

He explained that the celebration also aims to honor ambulance workers, including paramedics and healthcare practitioners, and to appreciate their significant contributions to society. It also seeks to enhance cooperation among various stakeholders, highlight advancements and innovations in emergency medical services, and shed light on the efforts of emergency medical technicians in serving the community.

Dr. Al-Shatti affirmed that these objectives help improve the quality of emergency medical services and enhance public safety in society.

He stated, "Humanity in times of crisis reveals the noblest meanings of heroism, and the Kuwaiti ambulance service is not just a medical service but a symbol of sacrifice and dedication." He emphasized that "emergency medical technicians are the heroes who stand on the front lines during crises, responding to the call of duty with courage and professionalism."

Dr. Al-Shatti pointed out that emergency medical technicians work around the clock, facing challenges and enduring pressures to save lives and provide necessary care to those in need. He explained that their role is not limited to transporting patients but extends to assessing medical conditions, providing first aid, and offering psychological support during crises.

He mentioned that last year's achievements included responding to over 174,000 emergency calls, 1,000 air ambulance requests, and transporting more than 78 cases through medical evacuation services, with an average response time ranging from seven to 11 minutes. Additionally, over 17,000 graduates completed community first aid courses as part of the "A Paramedic in Every Home" campaign.

Dr. Al-Shatti highlighted the increase in evacuation and emergency drills, which reached 97 exercises across various government and private facilities, simulating multiple risk scenarios. He noted that the training department offered 279 professional courses, benefiting 2,815 individuals.
